The mascot of the 2002 Indian National Games
The Ongole Bull, the Indigenous cattle breed of Andrapradesh, is the official Mascot of the 32ndNational Games. The selection of the Ongole Bull as the Games Mascot reflects our concern for the local indigenous breed; this is a species facing extinction.
The Andra Chief Minister named this Mascot ‘Veera’ in 2002, during the International Olympic Day celebrations at Hyderabad. The choice of the name “Veera” for the Mascot is a tribute to great local indigenous breed Ongole Bull.
