The Hallikar is one of the very famous Bos indicus breeds from the south Indian state, Karnataka. They are densely populated in the areas like Mysore, Mandya, Hassan, Tumkur, Bangalore, Kolar and Chitradurga district of Karnataka.

Its believed that Hallikar is originated from the other famous breed from the same belt “Amritmahal”. People from south Karnataka rise this breed by generation to generation.

Postal department of India honoured the Hallikar breed by releasing the stamp in the year 2000.

Colour : Grey to Dark, Deep shade on the fore head and hind quarters.

Size : Hallikar is medium build, muscular and compact in appearance.

Head : This breed has its unique forehead, Slightly bulked in the middle.

Face: Long and tapper towards muzzle.

Eyes/ Ears: It has small and clear eyes, Ears are small and tapper toward the point.
